Objectives

The Connect4Change consortium together with preferred partner Text to Change has developed a programme for the years 2011-2015 that focuses on the following objectives:

  • Improve the income and employment opportunities of small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs through better access to markets and financial services and improved productivity by using ICT
  • Improve the quality and equity of the education system through the integration of ICT in primary, secondary education, teacher and vocational training with a special focus on girls.
  • Improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of the health care system through an integrated introduction of ICT in health care services and community health with a special focus on health rights for women and girls.

To reach these objectives the consortium will make use of three different intervention strategies: direct poverty alleviation, civil society building, and lobby and advocacy. These strategies entail the following activities and interventions:

  • Integration and up-scaling of ICT in development programmes.
  • Ensure the innovative application of combined ICTs in development programmes in collaboration with specialised partner organisations in the North.
  • Facilitate effective knowledge sharing and learning among Southern and Northern partners by bundling ICT-based learning and reporting approaches.
  • Sharing policies, methodologies and good practices among members and with other actors. Mobilise popular support for holding governments accountable through the use of ICT.
  • The activities of the consortium are carried out in the countries: Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Malawi, Peru, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
